This is the MacCormac house in Mosman Park by Kym MacCormac completed in 1981. It is a beautiful house, still in amazing condition, and it really is a striking design. Very brutal in its forms, strong massing, bold rectangular geometry in the facades, with some great pushing and pulling of volumes, sliding past each other. The roof pitch is a great contrast to the square fronts, very steep with clerestories on the insides to allow light in. It looks very different from the side and front, which gives it a certain complexity. Very finely executed and I think it sits very well within the West Australian condition. The colours are very appropriate and really work with the light, and its a little bit harsh in its form which again reflects our condition. Superb.
