This is a house Brett White designed, possibly for himself, in the mid 90s I believe. It is in Mosman Park and I think it is an extraordinary house. The imagery and ideas it presents I find fascinating. I find it conjures up romantic images of outback Australia, and simpler times. It is a sort of cross between standard worker cottages, the rural ’shed’ and a kind of outbackĀ station house. But made with a modern construction material, concrete blocks, and details contrast with this sort of ‘old romantic’ imagery, eg. the oversized windows to the street and the car ports flanking the entrance, and the courtyard layout. The street facade is brilliant, the green facia highlights and supports are a highlight. It is truly an amazing house and deals with a lot of ideas. Brilliant.
