this is the Midland train station, i do not have much information on it unfortunately, but i am pretty sure i remeber reading that it was done by Chisholm, and done in 1967-8. It won the Midland Clay Brick Award. ts really nice, functional, and quite austere confronting modernism. Very little decoration, in favour of rationalism, and structural integrity. Long sweeping roofs and covered walkways extend across the site, marking, it with the strong central clock tower acting as a foil to the horizontality. And what a clock tower it is. Quite monolithic and imposing in size and stature, just hundreds of metres of sweeping walkways, and uniteruptef horizontal planes, in a beautiful magenta/burgundy. great.
