Blacket Smith

p3140420p3140423This is a beautiful Blacket Smith designed house in Swanbourne, and it is for sale! So I went around for a look and it is a truly wonderful piece of architecture. I won’t say too much, visit it yourself, or even buy it! This house follows on from the Onslow Road development where the plan is seemingly split into 2 halves, with a bold curve running through the middle. The best bit is this dividing curve is clearly evident and the physical ‘end’ of it is visible in a strange little nook at the top of the stairs. The curve also contains the staircase and a toilet. There is a black mosaic tile line that also follows through the length of the house, from outside, in and out again, with echoing black lines on the opposite sides of the house. The little light slit above the kitchen with alternating marble panels is an interesting feature. Concrete dado render is applied all over. It really made my day!

Anyways, check it out here. http://www.acton.com.au/property.aspx?pid=158994
